Phil’s playlist for September/Best Live Acts this year/Best TV Series

Now that the festival season is drawing to a close, and the weather in London is looking (and feeling) remarkably autumnal I thought I would put together a playlist of songs for September from artists who have recently impressed me, with some classics thrown in:

Song                                                        Artist

New York                                             Paloma Faith

Stay                                                      Hurts

A day like today                              Elbow

Inside my love                              Minnie Ripperton

I am the Sound                                 My Tiger my Timing

New Ceremony                               Dry the River

Lorelai                                                 Fleet Foxes

Simply Unstoppable                    Tinie Tempah  (Travis Barker Session) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDqK6pnRXX0

Half Full Glass of Wine                  Tame Impala

L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N                        Noah and the Whale

What the water gave me            Florence and the machine

Someone Like you                       Adele (there is no escaping this track on London’s radio waves – still emotive)

Bruise Pristine                                Placebo

Love will tear us apart                 The Parsonage (Cover of a classic on La Musique De Paris Derniere)

My Kz, Ur.Bf                                     Everything, Everything (for the lyrics!)

Paranoid Android                          Sia  (stripped down cover on Exit Music with Radio Head)

Keep me warm                                Ida Maria

Hang me up to dry                        Cold War Kids

The Boy with the Arab Strap     Belle & Sebastian

Here it comes                                   Doves

Fourteen Times                                Marcus Foster

Washed Out                                      Life of leisure

+Anything by Ontario’s own City and Colour, who is yet to disappoint me.

Best live Act (thus far)

Hurts – Glastonbury

Elbow – Glastonbury

Warpaint – Reading Festival

Dry the River – Glastonbury

Tinie Tempah – Glastonbury

The Streets – Reading

Aloe Blac – Somerset House

Best TV series

A good friend of mine recently lent me Game of Thrones, which I quickly found myself watching on an almost daily basis; forcing me to ask what had I been doing with my time that something some so amazing could have missed my radar first time round!
